There are certain features that can be telltale signs of a nakshatra, even if the natives do not always look overtly similar across all features. There are a few specific features I love to check for when I'm suspecting that Dhanishta धनिष्ठा nakshatra (23° 20′ Capricorn – 6° 40′ Aquarius. sidereal) may be present. Dhanishta tends to have classic "bombshell" energy. I've explored before its powerful association with beloved women who captivate the public's attention for decades (Marilyn Monroe & Princess Diana are Dhanishta Moons, for example). This nakshatra also arose as highest after Pushya for women in my beauty icon survey, & ranked as the top Sun. In Vishnu-smriti* it is written that when one offers to the ancestors in Dhanishta, they gain success in preparing/obtaining beauty and luster.
Dhanishta-dominant natives can be spotted by their triangular or rectangular face shapes, with a well-defined and broad jaw. Their chin is often quite squared (which can be seen in shorter variations on face shapes below. On longer triangular face shapes, the chin is lengthened and can be seen on Dhanishta natives like Sandra Bullock, Jennifer Aniston, and Jessica Alba). Their lips are often distinct-- they tend to be long, medium to full, and downturned in shape, with a noticeably longer upper lip. The face appears slightly "loose" to the sides of the mouth corners, in a relaxed manner. This gives a natural expression at rest which appears pouty, moody, and sensual.
Dhanishta energies (similar to Mars-ruled Chitra) most often tend to create narrow & upturned noses; Dhanishta's is especially sloping. Dhanishta eyes are small to medium in size, very slightly upturned, and tending towards minimal eyelid spacing or sometimes being slightly hooded (like Mars-ruled Mrigashira). There are many Dhanishta natives who have high-set, rounded and full brows.
Dhanishta is the final expression of Mars amongst the nakshatras. Mars is a hot pitta planet, and his influence here can give warm, reddish undertones to the hair and skin. Both the hair and skin through this influence also tend to have a lustrous appearance. Dhanishta hair is distinct; it is voluminous in abundance, but slightly lighter/thinner by strand, which gives a wispy, soft, fluffy, bouncy look. Dhanishta natives tend to enjoy overtly feminine hair styles and sun-kissed coloring/lightening that appears natural, effortless, and sensual. Dhanishta's are known for iconic hair scenes, such as Dhanishta Moon **Cindy Crawford's 90's Pepsi commercial (below left) & Dhanishta Sun Denise Richards' hair-flipping scene in Friends (below middle). Jennifer Aniston's (Dhanishta Sun) hairstyle as Rachel Green in Friends was so iconic that it is still referenced & requested today as "The Rachel". Below I've also included Sandra Bullock's (Dhanishta Moon) bouncy & voluminous hair reveal scene in Miss Congeniality.
You can watch my new Youtube-short to see Dhanishta beauty in motion. As with everything in astrology, these features to check for are a tendency not a rule for Dhanishta's physical appearance. A person's other primary placements will bring in features as well, though one will tend to come to the surface the most strongly (relating to their dominant planet); one can have a Dhanishta primary placement but be dominated by one of their other primary placements instead. In this way, I seek in these posts to isolate the Dhanishta appearance influence as much as possible by finding the most consistent common physical ground amongst its natives, while having awareness that each individual you're seeing has other astrological influences at play as well that make them unique. I wanted to make these posts so that you don't have to rely on two people looking strikingly similar to know they share a nakshatra, but rather can more consciously/logically check for certain revealing features even amongst people who have many differences.

Here is a video in which I have explored Dhanishta Nakshatra:
*"By offering in Dhanishtha one procures success in preparing लवणं lavanam" (this can be translated as "salt" or as "beauty/luster/grace". For more information , note that salt is highly connected to beauty in Ayurveda).
**Cindy Crawford has a birth time note that lists 2:08 but does not include AM/PM, so she has two possible birth time verified charts. Dhanishta Moon is with the 2AM birth time. Logically, this seems to make more sense; if no am/pm was written it's likely they were using 24H time format.
One other note: I erroneously listed Vanessa Hessler multiple times on the slides as Dhanishta Sun; she is actually Dhanistha Moon.
