There are certain features that can be telltale signs of a nakshatra, even if the natives do not always look overtly similar across all features. There are a few specific features I love to check for when I'm suspecting that Ashwini अश्विनी nakshatra (0° – 13°20′ Mesha/Aries) may be present.
Ashwini is the very first nakshatra and this comes across with the youthful, neotenous overall appearance it possesses. Ashwini natives can be spotted by their full and large cheeks, which are rounded and prominent in the buccal area as well as somewhat in the very low-set cheek apples.
The fullness here leads to a frequency of dimples for Ashwini natives. Overall, their (typically small) face shape tends to be round or gently squared. Full softness is also found in Ashwini's fleshy lips, which are an eye-catching feature in that their mouths are long and large in proportion to their other features. Ashwini's nose is also soft and widened, upturned, and with quite broad nostril wings and rounded nostrils. Ashwini's eyes are typically small to medium in size, almond-shaped, medium to wide-set, and neutral to upturned. This is one nakshatra in which vibrant & light eye colors are quite common.
There tends to be minimal eyelid spacing or slight hooding to their eyes. Their brows are long, and straight to lightly arched. Their coloring is often cool & strikingly high-contrast, frequently with thick, smooth, and shiny hair in dark and ashy tones that give the striking "Raven-beauty" effect.
You can watch my new Youtube-Short to see Ashwini beauty in motion and to see more Ashwini natives (it can also be found on instagram @claire.nakti or tiktok @clairenakti). As with everything in astrology, these features to check for are a tendency not a rule for Ashwini's physical appearance.
A person's other primary placements will bring in features as well, though one will tend to come to the surface the most strongly (relating to their dominant planet); one can have an Ashwini primary placement but be dominated by one of their other primary placements instead. In this way, I seek in these posts to isolate the Ashwini nakshatra appearance influence as much as possible by finding the most consistent common physical ground amongst its natives, while having awareness that each individual you're seeing has other astrological influences at play as well that make them unique. I wanted to make these posts so that you don't have to rely on two people looking strikingly similar to know they share a nakshatra, but rather can more consciously/logically check for certain revealing features even amongst people who have many differences.
