The Most & Least "Glam" Nakshatras: Snake vs. Mongoose

I collected the birth charts of 265 cosmetologists-- hair stylists and makeup artists-- to find the most common shared astrological placements for this profession. As many of you already know, the number 1 shared placement was Ashlesha Nakshatra (16° 40′ – 30° Cancer sidereal), as I’ve covered in depth on YouTube (above). Ashlesha was the top Ascendant by a large & statistically significant margin, as well as was the top nakshatra for Sun. The above video also explores the other top 5 "glamor" indicators.
However, it’s also fascinating to consider the astrological placement that arose the least. It was the nakshatra Uttara Ashada (26° 40′ Sagittarius– 10° Capricorn sidereal), which was the lowest Sun placement, tied as the 2nd lowest Moon placement, and all together was the only nakshatra to fall below the lower statistical bound with combined primary placements (Sun, Moon, & ASC).

Traditionally, Ashlesha is deeply associated with serpent energy. It is symbolized by the coiled snake, ruled by the nagas (divine serpents), has the shakti (power) to "inflict poison", and has the basis above, "the approach of the serpent". Uttara Ashada’s sexual nature is represented by the snake’s enemy the mongoose, which is fascinatingly resistant to snake venom. This resistance reflects a broader immunity to the magnetic, illusion-making arts at which Ashlesha excels. Being less able to have their senses altered by this serpent power, of course Uttara Ashada would find it less interesting to align their life path with this industry. This doesn’t mean they never enjoy glamor in their personal lives, or that there were no Uttara Ashada people in the beauty industry; there were. It simply shows that Uttara Ashada placements appeared the least as a driving force drawing their vessels into this field as a career. Ashlesha has "serpent logic" & is immersed in coating itself in Lunar "magic", obsessed with manipulation, subtlety, mystique (playing with darkness, mystery, and ignorance) and charged forms of indirect influence like glamor and seduction. Uttara Ashada is the height of Sun amongst the nakshatras and feels drawn towards directness, transparency, & authenticity-- destroying darkness with light, illusion with truth, and mystery with clarity.
Studying Uttara Ashada from these results pulled me in so much that I ended up creating an almost 30 minute long documentary for Patreon exploring the women of all three Sun-ruled nakshatras (Krittika, Uttara Phalguni, and Uttara Ashada), and it ended up including over 40 natives of the nakshatras & archetype parallels across over 30 film & media examples. Here is a youtube-short video preview. Join my Patreon for that and so much more content, as well as to support my astrological research & publication. 💛
